I'm driven to wonder "who those people are that are pledging support to Donald Trump". I admit it. I have thought dangerous and very unkind things about them. I mean, really.
But tonight, working in my studio, my mind stumbled over all the ugly things I want to be different as well as the things I've found so worthwhile and fulfilling. One of the good things is generosity - not going to throw that away. If I want to hold onto it though, I must use it.
Yup, Again (Re.: anti-citizen laws in Southern states)
"Hey, You!"
"You are a citizen only until you do something I wouldn't do. You are not allowed to be a citizen if I don't like who you say you are. No, you don't have to do anything. You don't have to buy anything, or hurt anyone, or steal, or make an undo amount of noise. Hell, you don't even have to play rock or rap music.
"I can take any number of your privileges away because my preacher, or my politician, or my brother-in-law (I can't remember which) says, "She shouldn't be allowed to do that." No, I didn't ask him why. I wasn't doing anything anyway. There was no reason to think about it. He saved me the trouble.
for thinking that the United States of America are quite a way along a road we've traveled (and regretted) before.
After we tried to do it once, we went to war to prevent it and its attendant behaviors. Another time after a similar experience practiced elsewhere and a mistaken (and regretted) practice here, supposedly to battle that practice, we joined another war. And here we are now, regrettable, lining up in some parts of our great republic to misperform again... more widely.
Once upon a time we had a large number of statesmen. Oh, they were landowners and business men, and even clergymen. But they used their knowledge and their understandings to create a nation rather than to tear one apart. It is hard to believe that we cannot produce and elect enough men like that now. Pity.
We are a successful nation built of, by, and forthepeople. Surely the people can find enough gumption to scuttle this mob of carnies who are bent on reversing that success by de-classifying people as citizens... or is it citizens as people?
Once upon a time I was 7 and once upon a time I was 8.
At those times, my parents spent a great deal of time taming my animal instincts and changing my human behaviors. Sometimes it was slow progress. And because my understanding was limited, progress was sporadic and uneven.
I believed the great cowboy stories; The Lone Ranger, Hopalong Cassidy, The Cisco Kid. I wanted to be heroic like that. I adopted their behaviors where and when I could. In second grade I was confronted by the existence of a schoolyard bully gang that routinely ran down younger smaller children for no other reason than that they were there. Not wanting to be a victim, and not identifying as an unprincipled bully, I maintained my hero identity by stooping at the back of the pack to right the fallen. Conscience saved.
They're already practicing stealing the election... again. In Arizona this time. Why wait till election when by starting in the primaries you can eliminate the d..n Dems now. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/arizona-primary-problems_us_56f41094e4b04c4c376184ca I understand that someone was heard to say, "If we do a good practice run during the primary, we can easily take every state in November"... or was that a Trump dream/vision?
